Clip of the Day: Dirty Little Secret
Jim's Clip of the Day: Dirty Little Secret -
Marietta, Georgia 2015 -
Camera: Panasonic AF100 -
Almost ten years ago I was approached by a producer about an independent TV series based and centered around the Atlanta area and the mish-mash of southern culture, mixed with the international and racial diversity of this truly unique city. We would use local Atlanta talent both in front of and behind the camera. I was all in!
That producer was the wonderfully talented, as well as kind and generous Sloane Warren. She not only produced the series nearly single handedly but directed many episodes, wrote several of the scripts, and even starred in several of the shows. She is seen here hilariously portraying our "criminal" convincing the equally hilarious and talented Ronny Mathew to make a getaway from the Marietta Police Department.
I shot this scene on the Panasonic AF100 with a Nikon Nikkor Super Speed 35mm vintage lens. I mounted the rig on my camera crane in order to give the camera a dolly tracking shot without the need to lay track. We could not block the drive at the station, so this was a great solution. The long crane arm allows you to float the camera in a wide arc as well as move vertically at the same time.
This is just one of multiple shots for the scene as we moved to both sides of the car for additional dialogue. I'll post a link of the episode in the comments below.
